Div 3: Next Steps in Learning

Dear Div 3 Families and Students,

Thank you for all your feedback around your home learning set ups. As expected, they are all very different.

With this is mind, how your kids are going to learn over the next few weeks will also be different; not better or worse, just different.

The goal is a continuation of learning.

Here is our list of options for you to choose from:

1. A weekly email/ blog post listing no tech activities focused on: reading, writing, math games and activities as well as a STEM (Science Technology and Math) challenge. Ms Powers and Ms Bridal are consultants within this option.
OR
2. Enrollment in a Google Classroom with similar activities and with Ms Powers and Ms Bridal overseeing assignments and conversations which may be in real or delayed time.
OR
3. Self Design in consultation. This is where families plan out their own activities and use Ms Powers and Ms Bridal as educational consultants. For example, some of you have your kids learning through grade leveled workbooks, especially for Math; in this case, we would suggest focusing on multiples and fractions for the upcoming week. But we would also recommend building in creative time, play, and outdoor activity to support emotional well-being (yours and your kids!).
OR
4. Mix and match a combination of these options depending on your evolving situation.

We will be officially rolling these options out tomorrow, Thursday, April 2nd.

You do not need to "register" which option you have chosen. Our assumption is that you are choosing the option that works for you.

We know that kids compare. We know that your kids might tell you that a classmate or sibling is doing something different and that they want to do it too. We know this might leave you conflicted, but we have your back. The message to relay to them is: every family is in a different situation right now, so learning is going to be different.

What is most import is that you are picking the option that works best for you and your family. And, technology is not always the best, most appropriate, or available option for families. Across all options, we will be encouraging your kids to immerse in the rich learning environment of the outdoors, a place of calm through this storm.
We are at your disposal all be it at a distance.

Your teachers,
Ms Powers and Ms Bridal
